So, I don't get really sick beyond the occasional cold or flu very often. I go to the doctor even less often. I don't even have a regular doctor, that's how little I go (don't try to convince it's better if I go and all that jazz, I won't listen). So, when I do it, I do it right.

A few years ago my right ear started hurting. Specifically the ear canal. I caved and went to the doctor at a local urgent care center, because they took my insurance and was much cheaper than the ER. He told me I had an outer ear skin infection. He prescribed me drops that cost $75.00 with insurance. My ear hasn't been right since. The wax never really hardened and it itched all the time.

Yesterday it started hurting like it did those years ago. So, back to the Readimed for me. I forgot to take something to do and waited for a half hour. But once I got in, I was happy to see I weighed what I thought (too much, I'm aware but hey, it could have been higher). My blood pressure was fine but I'm running a temperature.

The PA (which I'm fine with) came in, looked at both ears, told me the right ear canal was red and inflamed (duh) and that I had fluid behind the ear drum. The last bit was news to me. I was officially diagnosed with otitis externa and serous otitis media. Basically, my ear is messed up.

Got prescriptions and was off to the pharmacy. I got the generic versions of everything, gave my insurance (which normally is good, when I had to get pain killers after getting a tooth pulled a couple of years ago, I paid like a buck for it) and still paid $104 in medication.

The pharmacist agreed, it was ridiculous. So, I have an antibiotic by mouth, ibuprofen cold and sinus, and ear drops.

Pity me. I'm ill.

*sad little whimper*

Really as long as the pain goes down, I won't mind as much. It just hurts so bad right now. Nothing makes it better or worse. It just sucks.

*takes*

You know, the one thing that helped today was when I'd go past the air conditioner at work today. So, if he wants to blow in my ear, it would be clearly for medicinal purposes only.

Well, at this point, my ear is causing severe pain and is now becoming harder to hear out of. I know they say give the medication time, but really, the one ear thing worked for Van Gogh, maybe I should give it a shot.

Good gourd. My hubby had a very persistent ear infection a couple of months ago, so I know pretty much exactly how you feel. His was to the point where they warned him not to be surprised if his eardrum popped!

**HUGS**

Mine feels like it's going to. The fact that I have two very different infections at the same time, in the same ear isn't helping at all. Where I don't have pain, I have pressure. The PA said I didn't have a baterical infection yet, but it was on it's way. I can only imagine how much worse this could be. But I really don't want to.

AGH! Oh, hon, I'm sorry! That just sounds nasty. And that's ridiculous for meds. *Cuddles* Lemme know if there's anything we can do.

Yeah, it was all generic stuff too! I could have paid more! And reading up on the medication, the active thing in my ear drops are the main antibotic used to treat gonereaha. That's not at all disturbing.

Oh that sucks! Hugs! Here's a nice cool compress for your forehead, and videos of Rose and Ten together, in very shippy moments. Those copays are horrible, though I have discovered in my experiences with injuries that generic vicodin is about $1 total, generic darvoset is still in my low copay range. But still, when insurance is to the point of causing medical problems, then there is a nation-wide problem. (BTW, your copay just gave me a heart attack)

My forehead's fine. Actually, all of me is fine. EXCEPT THE EAR WHICH IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!

This was all generic and with insurance. I don't want to boggle at how much more it could have been.

At Readimed, they said they'd send in the info and then if I had to pay anything, they'd send me a bill. So, I didn't pay there at least. For the moment anyway.

Yuck. That sounds terrible. I hope you start to feel better soon, and aren't in too much pain. I recently had to have my ears vacumed out, so I know the feeling.

I'm in agony and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I know, it hasn't even been 24 hours but I'm miserable NOW. And apparently, I got the one infection from keeping my ears too clean.

You got an infection for keeping your ears too clean?! I've never heard of that before.

*pets* You poor dear. Here, let me get Richard Armitage to come massage your, er, neck for you while David blows in that ear.

They can switch off duties if they can stand my constant whimpers and sudden onset of tears. It just hurts so bad.
