misssara11: (DW Snow Covered TARDIS)
That's right, my school that never closes, closed for today at 7:22 PM last night. I know this because I was on the phone with my mother when the text alert came through my phone, whilst I was making dinner (spaghetti with ground turkey in the sauce, nothing fancy). I proceeded to do a little dance in front of my stove.

So far today, I've slept in and had lunch. Nothing else of note. I will later clean up the house, do laundry and work on homework for the classes I'm taking.

On that last note, I took my first test of the semester on Sunday night (after Downton Abbey, which, how much do we love it?). I missed one, which got me a 98%!!! I thought then I deserved some sort of treat for that accomplishment. I'll take the snow day. If anyone else wishes to reward me with a little something, I won't be opposed!

I had to submit "a plan" for getting my Bachelor's to my boss, which meant I had to plan out what classes I was taking when. If I plow through, thanks to Trine's accelerated learning thing, I can be done by December of next year. And all my classes will be on line. Not really looking forward to any of my degree classes, but can't wait to take my gen ed classes. I'm going to be rounding it all out with psychology, art and literature classes. The only class I wanted to take isn't offered on line or at the campus near me, so no film appreciation.

I've taken photos of the progress of the snow if anyone is interested in them. For now, I shall go back to considering doing something productive.

Oh Hai LJ

misssara11: (DW Hi!)
Have you missed me? It's only been a month since I've posted anything. Barely kept up with the flist either. Lots of stuff have gone down. Been sick. Almost had a nervous breakdown (possibly due to bening sick). Been completely sucked into Big Brother UK (and it's fair to say that these two are a good part of that. It doesn't hurt that the male half looks like this plus an Australian accent to boot! And trust me, their dramas could give soap operas a run for their money.) And then there's what I did Thursday day night (if you follow my Twitter you know what I did) but more on that later. I have pictures to catch up with! There will be kitties as that's mainly what I've taken pictures of.

We bug bombed the house a few weeks ago so the kitties went to visit the office and explored. Cassie made herself comfortable.

Be back later with another pic!

It was an adventure getting to Fort Lauderdale to say the least. Ramblings on my adventurous adventures found here )

To say the least, I'll be scarce the next few days. You can try to contact me, but don't be surprised if I don't get back to you until Sunday or later.
misssara11: (FF Alex-Cheers!)
Let's talk fall tv. I'm mostly sticking to the same shows as always. However, there's a few new shows I'm watching. The Cleveland Show isn't as good as it's predecessor, but it saves me from changing the channel between The Simpsons and Family Guy. Cougar Town is hilarious, and it's not just extended Friends-love for Courtney Cox. I quite like Flashforward. And Penny, it's completely understadable that if you're going to cheat on Desmond, that it's with Jack Davenport (yes, I'm ignoring the pretty-boy Finnes brother for this example). No one can fault you for that. (And I knew Charlie was evil! I never liked Charlie during any of Lost, but that's not the point of this post.)

However, my main love of the new season is Glee. I simply adore it's over-the-top campness. There are some characters I like more than others. There is one I can't stand (Teri). There's those I have mixed feelings on (Quin, Rachel, Finn, Sue). There are those I really like (Artie, Mercedes). And those I love (Kurt, Will, Ken, Sue's journal). But my favorite is unashamedly Puck. Even with his lame little mohawk (which I hear will be disappearing). If I didn't already like him enough, there's a couple of YouTube videos of sneak previews of songs for this week. My love for him is sealed with the following clip.
Because the rambling text doesn't really hurt loading time but embedded things do )

So, had a harrowing squirrel moment this evening. My mom was driving us back from Dairy Queen to get our "charity" Blizzards. We were almost home when a branch fell from a tree on our street right in front of the car. With the branch came a very stunned squirrel. The brakes were slammed and the squirrel got his bearings and ran off. Good times.

Thanks to those of you who wished me a happy birthday. That is always, always welcomed. My Wall O' Love on Facebook made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Now as to why I used this icon! This little gem was found at DeviantArt! )

I still owe [livejournal.com profile] larissa_j answers to the Fandom Five meme and that will finish that up. Also, the cable guy is once again schedule to come tomorrow (the guy on Sunday said he called on his way here and said it was unanswered, which is bull as I was home all day and the phone never rang once), which will hopefully fix the OnDemand, at which time I can catch up on all the True Blood recaps. (I've watched them all, just not in re-cap mode.)

I think I'm getting sick again. Also, wasn't the happiest of days.

Think that's it for now!

As an added reminder that the awesome that is Convention is over, I have a cold. A cold that first manifested as I was finishing packing before leaving for the airport on Saturday morning. So, I've had to deal with the usual time wackiness of Convention plus the time change and the cold. Work yesterday wasn't enjoyable. And I'm not even half caught up but hopefully that will resolve in the next couple of days. It's definitely a head cold. Everything from the nose up is unhappy. Nose, ears, eyes, head, whatever. The throat isn't enjoying the coughing and it seems like any medication I've taken has little to no effect.

As I said in the last post, the week was incredible. If you have me friended on Facebook, my buddies are uploading their pictures of the week, so I'm tagged. I was so busy pictures weren't a priority, but the few I did take will be uploaded someday when I'm feeling better.

I haven't even taken my clothes out of the suitcase yet, let alone did laundry. No fear, I have enough clean clothes to get me through to the weekend at least.

Enough whining and whinging. MEME!
Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post. Possibly with pictures.

ETA: Just got a message from one of my SCL friends, the person in charge of all things Convention/JCL contacted all the teachers to say one of the JCLers got diaganosed with swine flu. Yep, that makes me feel so much better about this cold.

I've been so busy that I haven't had time to do anything here. Everything I have posted is either at Twitter or Facebook. Needless to say I had a blast even without Jen there (who called me via Skype three times while here). I got to know some people a whole lot better and met new ones as well. Hopefully a lot of them will be at Boston and then FARGO BABY!

I may try to make a coherent post much later. I'm spending six hours on a plane that may or may not have Wi Fi (why doesn't Southwest post flight numbers on the days I fly?). So, other things will amuse me there, perhaps even sleep.

I skimmed when I had time over the flsit but I think it's a lost cause to try to catch up with any sort of comprehensiveness. So, if I missed something good, let me know.

I think that's it. Will possibly crash super hard either on the plane or the car on the way home or home itself!

Also, check the timestamp. This is the earliest night (barring Sunday), I had all week.
misssara11: (Default)
But I'm not. Instead of packing and making sure I have everything I need (which I don't, I've already figured out something but that can be purchased later), I'm playing on the net and watching G4's Comic Con coverage.

Why am I packing? I'm off to my yearly convention. This year it's at UC Davis in California. Which means I'll be spending a third of my day tomorrow in airports and airplanes. I'm flying Southwest and have already checked in (flight is at 8:00, I checked in at 10:15 and was already in boarding group B for the first flight! I'm the last member of group A for my connection). So there's that. They haven't posted the flight numbers that will have WiFi for tomorrow though I keep hoping!

So, I'll attempt to keep a record here, even it's for myself and I'll be keeping my Twitter updated as it's how I'm going to keep my friend in Italy up to date (since she's doing her Fullbright thing). And my Photobucket will d what it says on the tin.

This all means no True Blood this week. I'll do both episodes when I get home and by then it will be time to add a third!

Speaking of television, I think everything is set up for all that I'll miss. I hope. I'll find out when I return.

Right, packing as the airport I'm leaving from is two hours away, so staying in a hotel tonight as to not have to leave the house at 3:00 AM to make my 7:00 AM flight.
misssara11: (Floppie the Banjo Clown)
I know I've been scarce and for good reasons I won't go into right now.

Anyways, things! This includes romance novels, Chicago, Harry Potter (non-movie related), freaky-eyed paintings, Blue Men, Emmys, SYTYCD, Twitter, Murray Gold, people living in California, and The Venture Brothers )
misssara11: (True Blood Viking in My Bathwater)
I'm inexcusably behind on responding to comments, which I will get caught up on at some point.

I will post the picture meme stuff. And am willing to do more of those.

I will write the drabbles for Stump the Author as I've been done stumped. Feel free to add to the merriment there.

The main purpose for this however is this: I'm in the market for a portable DVD player. Specifically one that is region-free. I bought a Phillips DCP851 and that was a total bust. It didn't read my Ipod, my burned CDs (of Doctor Who episodes), or my British DVDs. And the picture quality for the discs it could read wasn't all that great. So, any suggestions?

I would like to have this before I go off to California at the end of July for the plane jaunts. (I'm breaking up the flights on purpose, I freak out if I'm stuck on a plane for more that 3 hours, which is why I'll most likely never make it to England.)

Also, I've got the pictures from Friday on to my laptop. Now I need to get them uploaded. There's 392 pictures and videos. So, it might take a bit.
misssara11: (March Hare)
I know some of you have said you've read Julia Quinn before. Well, I just finished The Duke and I last night and I plowed through the end of that thing! Please tell me the rest of the Bridgerton books are this good. I have them all, so I don't need to wait to acquire them. The Viscount Who Loved Me is sitting right next to me as I type this. I adore Colin, but I understand that's a completely normal reaction. And I can't wait to see Hyacinth grow up. I have my suspicions who Lady Whistledown is. Don't tell me!

I've been taking pictures as well for the photo meme. I'll happily take more, just let me know!

Reading about others experiences with UP, I discovered I was unfortunate as I got neither the short nor the preview for Toy Story 3. All we got was the trailer for The Princess and the Frog. Not the same thing at all! Don't get me wrong, I want to see that but it was the same trailer that's been online for a few weeks now.

Doctor Who news? Meh. I just can't get excited. I checked out when Billie left the first time and now that she and David will both be gone, I just shrug at the whole thing.

Less than a week until Snow Patrol/Coldplay! Yes, I realize writing it like it seems like I ship them. I really don't. However, after this is all said and done I may want to provide Guy Berryman with more children beyond the daughter he has with his ex. I just find him lovely. I can't help it. Are there any requests for pictures/videos of either band? Will be Twittering the whole thing.

And speaking of, I'm addicted to Twitter now. I'm slightly ashamed. Wish I had more people worth updating for.

Basically this is a post to distract me from the exciting day of laundry/house cleaning. I may catch up with this season of Greek on the ABC Family website as I have nothing to watch until 7:30 (The IT Crowd followed by Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, go Wings.)
misssara11: (Tennant!crotch)
So, things have happened since last I posted.

If you care to know what's what )

And to remind you all, I've posted a Master List of Fics.

Also, I've joined Twitter (as, wait for it, misssara11). Feel free to follow me and let me know if I can do the same. So far I'm following a dozen celebrities. I'd sort of like to keep track of "real" people, you know?

I think that's it! Happy Birthday David!
misssara11: (True Blood Eric)
Seriously, this schedule is wearing me down little by little. At least this week and next (and their accompanying weekends) I have no plans to speak of. So, WHOOO ludi nap for me!

Odd Things

May. 20th, 2008 04:53 pm
misssara11: (A2A Good Morning!)
Two odd things have happened to me today.

And it leaves me scratching my head )
misssara11: (HIMYM Barney/Robin)
No, not that one. The other one. No, not that one either. The one that is currently eating my brain.

It's sad how excited I am about tonight's HIMYM. I have decided that DWTS will be on the main screen and at 8:30, I'll turn on my little portable tv to watch HIMYM. Especially the end. All signs point to something that I've wanted since S1 of this show. A couple of weekends ago I watched parts of S1 and almost all of S2. I was sad when I finished because I knew S3 wasn't DVD yet. Something about it still being aired. Silly, I know.

I haven't loved a sitcom this much since Friends and that is my all time favorite tv show. (Band of Brothers is still the best thing ever put on television but that was a mini-series, so doesn't count here.) It's Joey and Rachel all over again for me except this time, Barney and Robin stand an excellent shot at actually getting together. That's right, I was never a Ross/Rachel fan. All ten season, I was, at most, lukewarm about them. No, my main couple did get together on there. Chandler and Monica, if you have to ask (and I wanted them together about a year before London happened, imagine my joy when it did). And I was rooting for Joey and Rachel all the way until the end. .

For those keeping track, I'm better. I left the house today, mostly because I had to, but I'm doing okay. Yesterday, I had stomach problems on top of everything else. I think that's gone away. I still have a lingering headache though. That's the worst of it however.

This week will be an easy week at school as it's just a work week. Which means I get to sit in the front of the room and do nothing. That nothing includes writing. I've finished chapter 11 of The Crossover (for those in the know, it's the "other" chapters now). So, I'm pleased with that.

And now, I'm just rambling to avoid work.
misssara11: (Green Wing - Dancing Sue)
On my way into work today, "The Gambler" was on the radio. I was grinning like an idiot for a few minutes. I do the same thing when I have soft serve ice cream too.

I had a Season 2 HIMYM marathon this weekend starting with "Slap Bet" through the end. That led to an interesting dream Saturday night. I'm not sure if it was Ted or Josh Raynor himself, but in my dream, excellent kisser. He was behind me and started on my neck first and it sort of spiraled from there. Which is funny as I'm not really attracted to him. I mean, he's not ugly and from what I've seen of him (and Ted) he seems decent enough but not something I really all that into.

My mom was sick so she didn't come home. I did manage to accomplish quite a bit. Starting Friday into Saturday, I went to two different grocery stores, Walgreens, Target, the post office, the atm, and gassed up my car. I'm done with chapter 8 of The Crossover ([livejournal.com profile] swankkat, it has the brain melty scene in it) and know exactly what I want to do with chapters 9 and 10, at which point the story shifts gears. I have a pretty good idea what I'm doing with that half. For those whom answered my question a couple weeks back, your input is in chapter 7. No one (aside from the betas) will see it until the whole thing is finished though. It makes sure the whole thing gets done. I also got my Episode 2 post of Casanova up on [livejournal.com profile] tennant_rewatch! I was the first one to do so! (Followed literally two minutes after by [livejournal.com profile] fid_gin, but still, mini-wave in honor of me!)

It's DWTS night, which always pleases me, as you all know by now.

Quick poll in regards to THAT SPOILER (tm), SPDN, you could link but it's not that shippy or even that spoilery if you know the casting news )

I'm still coming down off of my Ashes to Ashes high. I love that show. Have I mentioned that? And the revelation about the mural in the last episode? It just keeps getting better! Go! Watch! Now! It helps if you've seen Life on Mars but not necessary to enjoy this show. At least I don't think so.

I really should go back to work now or at least pretend to.
