It's almost over.

So, we're dressed for the banquet and Audree said she'd come with us to help set up. As people arrived, the Pretty Princess theme went over as expected: like gangbusters. Haag sat at our table and soon took the light-up wand and skipped through the room sprinkling the confetti on people's heads. I do adore him in a completely platonic way.

Jen and I picked our table specifically because it was close to the food and we knew we would be among the first to get grub. I think is the point where I should point out, in the NSCL hierarchy, I'm a member of the cool kids. I just am. I don't apologize for it. The people that initially got me involved were cool kids and the crown just got handed down. So, I'm an elder cool kid, but one none the less. We are inclusive of everyone one, but when it boils down to it, we (our group) gets most of the attention. And we've earned it. We do most of the work. We put ourselves out there the most. Most of us have been officers (myself included). Also, the crew that continuously goes to Reunion (like my group) are like this as well. There is enough of us to encompass two tables. The incoming president (Zach Fenno <3) was at the table next to us.

Tyler (Cunnion) being president, dismissed tables to get food...He started on the other side of the room. We, being the mature group we are, boo-ed him, declared him made of epic fail and other such grown up things. We would do this with each dismissal. At one point, he turned to us and said, "You keep that up, you won't go at all." We said we knew Zach would never do that to us. And he told Tyler (Jonas) at our table that his table would go first next year. As such, we said we were all sitting with Jonas next year and that Zach better keep his promise.

My least favorite part of banquet every year is when all the former officers get up, say their name, what office they held and when. I just want to eat, honestly.

Anyways, like all the food this week, lunch was good. Pasta with a choice of sauce, chicken, green beans, and salad. The tomato with the salad was nasty (one of the three bad things total I ate all week). Desert was either chocolate cake with chocolate icing or white cake with white icing and raspberry filling. Each wedge was two layer thick and BIG. Almost all of us took one half of our layers and split them with someone else so that we'd have a bit of each.

Remember my mystery rash? Well, I asked Shannon about it and we determined it was allergic. Some deduction figured out what from. It was on my left arm and a bit of my right. I am allergic to bleach. Because of this I always bring my own sheets and pillow. However, I do use the provided pillow and I sometimes sleep on my stomach, wrapping my arms around the pillow. The pillowcase provided was white. You do the math. So, after we cleaned up everything, Jen and I went to a drug store and I got some Benadryll (well the generic) cream. The pills knock me out (and I had those). Mostly, I just wanted it to stop itching, which the cream helped with.

After this, Jen and I have nothing until the dance and we would get food ahead of time (we've not been to the Roman banquet in years). This left us with a large chunk of nothing time. Time to sleep. Since 11:00 AM Wednesday, Jen had slept six hours, me two. So, this is good news. We get to the room, change out of our banquet dresses and lie down. Now, Jen's always cold, I'm always hot. The room stays warm. So, I'm just thinking it's status quo until Jen asks if I think it's hot and humid. Of course I think so. The vents are blowing hot humid air. Our room is roughly a sauna. We propped opened the door to try to get the cool hall air in. We stumble down and told the front desk. They said they'd send maintenance.

This left us with unexpected time. We figured we might as well get a "free" (we did pay for convention after all) meal and headed over to the banquet. A nice chunk of our crew were already there, so we even had someone to sit with. The food was pretty much what we had for lunch but still good. And we watched our buddies run Rent-a-Roman then went back to the dorms. We decided if the air wasn't fixed, we would curl up in the Ear office, as that was done for the week and we had both slept comfortably on that floor. It was really nice for our backs actually. Luckily, it seemed to be working again.

After dressing for the dance, Troha, Audree and Lindsay said they'd come with us and we decided to watch at least a round of the World Series of Certamen. Specifically the team that Haag was on as that was the only team we knew someone on. We found their room but when we got there, the door did not have any windows so, we didn't know if could sneak in or not. Someone came out, we were deer caught in headlights and went inside. After some murmuring from the peanut gallery, Haag said, "That's my harem." We rolled our eyes and agreed, "Sadly, that's not that far from the truth."

He got dirty looks from some of the other girls in the room and he wanted to retort, "If you only knew. Trust me, they aren't offended. You really shouldn't be." But he behaved.

After the round, Jen, Troha and I went to the dance and found other SCLers. The DJ was still amazing. He never let there be a down moment and you just kept moving. The dance was three hours long but we got there an hour late and still we were exhausted. So much fun but I couldn't move my left leg very well, it was so sore afterward. Totally worth it.

Then back to the dorms to prepare for the usual final night activities. Because the new board took forever and day for their meeting, we didn't get started until after 3:00 AM. I was sooo tired at that point. Anyways, Whizbangs were read and the other final night stuff done (sorry, that bit's classified, the only thing we don't discuss with non-members). I went upstairs before Jen and was trying to get on the computer for a bit. I apparently fell asleep as Jen found me with my laptop on my stomach and me completely unconscious. She was going to move it for me, but I moved before she even crossed the room. I set it down and crashed, not having packed a thing.

That leads me to the last day and that, gentle readers, is another post.
