kammgirl was down and needed cheering up. That caused me to write this in her LJ but I decided to share the cracky goodness with you all. By the way, she said it worked! (May be cross-posted later, I haven't decided.)
"ROSE!"
Rose jumped up from her pile of paperwork she had arranged on the lounge floor in an order only she understood and ran to see what the commotion was about. "Doctor?! What happened? You all right?"
She was breathless by the time she reached him and panted as she pushed her hair out of her face.
He was sat behind the old desk Jackie had bought them as a housewarming gift, pouting at his hand. "I'm injured." He held his index finger up to her to investigate. "I can not go on."
Rose raised a speculative eyebrow and looked at his hand. "You have a splinter."
"And it hurts! A lot! A pain like this has never been known!"
"What were you doing?"
"I was checking the drawers to see if the former owners left anything interesting behind and this one," he jutted his chin at the drawer half-pulled out, "was stuck. So I had to shimmy it a bit and it attacked me. I think it's possessed."
Rose looked at him, bemused, and could only repeat what he had said. "The drawer is possessed?"
"Yes, I believe so. There are some very cunning aliens that can disguise themselves as such. No doubt they've been waiting for me, well, us and have poisoned me with their spawn...I will not have alien babies, Rose. I just won't. I would never be unfaithful to you like that."
She looked down at his hand, mostly in an attempt to not laugh. "Come on. We'll make sure it won't resort to that." She sat him down on the closed lid of the toilet and retrieved a pair of tweezers and a plaster from the cabinet. Then she remembered what her mum used to use and left the room.
When she returned, the Doctor was in an excellent stupor. "I thought you'd abandoned me."
"Not at all. I just had to get another supply." She brandished a roll of cello tape before pulling off a length and placing over the piece of wood causing his misery. He looked up and before he could question her, she kissed him.
While he was otherwise occupied, she ripped off the tape. "HEY! Oh...hey! It's not hurting!"
Rose showed him the tape. "Pulled it out. It should be all gone. Wash your hands and we'll bandage it up. If it still hurts in the morning, we'll take care of it."
He did as asked and presented the finger to her again. Before placing the plaster, she kissed the wound. He watched her as she worked. "Rose?"
"Hmm?" she didn't look up.
"It really was an evil desk."
She looked up with a soft understanding in her eyes, a look he was getting used to. "I know."
"And it's not just because it's from your mother."
"I know."
"And it really did hurt."
"I know." She kissed him again and he found he was all better.
